Bali is one of more than 17,000 islands in the Indonesian archipelago and is located just over 2 kilometres from the island Java in the east and from Lombok in the west.
With over 261 million people, Indonesia is the world’s 4th most populous country as well as the largest Muslim Country. In Bali about 4 million people are living. The capital and the economical center is Denpasar.
Bali is known for the unique culture that is a meld of Chinese, Indian and Hindu influences. Unlike any other island in largely Muslim Indonesia, Bali is Hindu. Balinese culture is far too involved and complex to be covered in a short summary. The Balinese religious calendar dictate island-wide days of obligation, temple-specific feast days, and daily personal rituals that connect every native Balinese to their families, communities, ancestors and gods.
The most common names are Putu, Made, Nyoman and Wayan which respectively
mean first child, second child, third child and fourth child.
Bali is one of the most popular destinations in Indonesia and there is a good reason why. The beaches are perfect for sunbathing and surfing and you will find many amazing diving spots. The Island is full of natural wonders, from highlands with active volcanoes, flowing waterfalls, green riceterraces and peaceful lakes.
We are very happy and thankful, that we can call Bali our home for the next 4 months!
